Kerning individual charcters (X3)

In version X3 I am able to use the shape tool to select a single character in a line of type and move it using super nudge. Regular nudge, however doesn't move the character. Is there a way to use regular nudge for this? Is this still the case for more recent versions of Draw?

    you can use the node tool to nudge characters. It's limited though. won't nudge below a certain point. You can just grab the character node and move it by hand while holding down the control key.
