Can any one tell me how to set the default font in Photo Paint 12 please. It always reverts to AvantGarde and I cannot change it in the options. I've tried saving work spaces and creating a new one but it always defaults to AvantGarde. Argh!
There must be a way surely - I can set it in Corel Draw 12!
It seems to me that the font that PP "defaults" to is the last font you used in PP. I just tested it and that is what happened.
Yes it is once it is open. But when it is closed and re-opened it will again default back to the AvantGarde font. I do a lot of comunicating with jpegs and screen dumps and am constantly opening and closing the program and it would be so much easier if it could be set to default on start up.

It appears that so far, no one has a solution in PP but give everyone an idea of what your process is and maybe someone can help with a different way to do what you are currently doing in PP? In other words, what are you doing that requires you to create the text in PP?
OK Sue,
I design in 3D with SolidWorks and regularly take screen shots of my work to send to my clients. I annotate these screen shots using PP.
So I will take screen shot and use Ctrl Shift n to open new PP picture. Then I would crop it to size and go to text to annotate the picture as needed to communicate the ideas with the client.
Come to think of it it would be nice also to set the default point size of the font to my custom setting too as it also seems to default to 24 pts when the application is started.
And yes, I suppose I could leave it open but working as I do, I quite often have many many other windows open and I like to try and keep things tidy.
Oh and it is often unstable and tells me I am running out of memory which I'm sure is a known problem with V12.
Please don't get me wrong - it's really not a major thing. I can cope with it and I like working with Corel Draw/PP - it would just be nice to be able to set the defaults and I was only wondering if I was missing something.
Everything you described could be done easily using Draw instead of PP. I have done screen shots for instruction manuals using Draw. Just paste your shot into Draw. Add the text, arrows, or whatever annotation you desire. (And of course you can easily set default fonts and graphics in Draw.). Once everything is as you want then either export to some bitmapped format or publish to PDF (my first choice). With Draw you could create a multipage document (instead of having multiple windows open) with different screen shots on each page and then publish to PDF and your client can see the multipage document. Yes V12 and other versions are memory hogs and frankly sometimes you just have to do a hard restart to clear everything out but based on what you described, you would have a MUCH easier time of it with Draw and its integrated interface with PP, rather than using PP directly. Good luck!
Yes I see what you are saying - very sensible and yes perhaps more professional as I can also add my contact details too!
Many thanks Sue.
