Windows XP home, Corel draw 12, Dell Inspiron Laptop. I have the latest version of the graphic card driver available installed.
Working on a file I lose the graphic upon which I am working. CorelDraw menus and page stay, the graphic just disappears. If I save the file and reopen it magically reappears.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Rick
Hi Rick, Have you tried refreshing the screen by pressing CRTL+W? Give that a try and let us know if you still have trouble. Hope that helps! - Paul
Yes, we tried that with no result.
My Dell Vostro 1500 laptop does exactly the same thing (running an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT). My Dell PC at work does it too, but less frequently. It started doing it in version 8 and I was hoping that X3 would fix the issue. Default settings (F8 start) did nothing - and now I have to go and rebuild all my keyboard shortcuts...!
Maybe it's a Dell thing? An LCD thing?
It's definitely not a 'hardware can't keep up' issue - I'm running a 2.2Ghz Centrino Duo with 256MB display memory and 2GB of RAM.
Okay so I think I've narrowed it down to my touchpad. I could reliably reproduce the disappearing act if I scroll with the 'side scroll' feature. The hand tool seems to work fine though - I've made a keyboard shortcut (Alt-space like Indesign) for a one shot pan which works pretty well. If the issue does occur, I've also found a bit of a workaround - just choose 'new window' from the window menu and the graphics reappear. You have to close the offending window (at some stage), but at least you don't have to restart Corel. If you can live without some of the advanced features like browser gestures, a very old version of my synaptics touchpad driver didn't produce the problem with the disappearing graphics even when scrolling - let me know and I can send the driver through. Cheers jbng :-)
I ended up re-installing corel draw, and the problem has not resurfaced.
Hello! I have the same problem under Corel 12 and Corel X3. I've installed both under Vista, thought this was the problem, and then i've formatted my hdd and installed XP Sp2. I have a Toshiba Notebook with Ati Radeon X1200.
What mouse / mouse driver do you have... might sound unrelated, but I've had some strange behaviours with a trackpad which had the tendency of zooming to 10'000% with no reason. Updating the drivers for the mouse helped.

Hello,
I have a TouchPad, but this happends eaven with the zoom buttons from the toolbar! Refresh won't work either. I can see the workspace, but if i select the arrow tool and click - drag to select i can't see the dotted square. I can also see the page margins, so i don't think it's a mouse problem...
Works great in Illustrator CS3, but you know... :)
Thanks,
Alex
Have you reported this to the Corel technical support team? if yes, can you send me the reference number per email or private message so that I can have a look at it?
No, I didn't because i'm using a trial software of x3 right now, i'm waiting for the company to buy the licence the next days but they won't buy it if it isn't working on this computer...i know it's difficult ...
I had called technical support a long time ago with this problem, but they said it was likely a graphics driver or mouse driver issue. But now that it's showing up on other kinds of computers, I'm suspicious of that answer. I'm running an IBM Thinkpad (with an ATI Radeon video chipset) and using the TrackPoint third button scroll. I can pan horizontally but the images with a document go blank and I have to restart CorelDraw and reopen the file to see them again. Also, vertical scroll has never worked properly.
Any luck in finding out what might be the cause of this?
