Windows XP home, Corel draw 12, Dell Inspiron Laptop. I have the latest version of the graphic card driver available installed.
Working on a file I lose the graphic upon which I am working. CorelDraw menus and page stay, the graphic just disappears. If I save the file and reopen it magically reappears.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Rick
Hi Rick, Have you tried refreshing the screen by pressing CRTL+W? Give that a try and let us know if you still have trouble. Hope that helps! - Paul
Yes, we tried that with no result.
Hmmm, ok. You said you already updated your GFX driver (out of curiosity, what do you have for a GFX card in that thing?). Not sure what to suggest there Rick. Have you tried reinstalling or repairing DRAW? Do you have all the patches installed? Does it occur with all your files or just a specific file? I have had some refresh issues at home when zooming out, but my screen never blacked out as you described. If you get it fixed, would be interesting to see what it was. Sorry I don't have a solid answer Rick! -Paul
My Dell Vostro 1500 laptop does exactly the same thing (running an Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT). My Dell PC at work does it too, but less frequently. It started doing it in version 8 and I was hoping that X3 would fix the issue. Default settings (F8 start) did nothing - and now I have to go and rebuild all my keyboard shortcuts...!
Maybe it's a Dell thing? An LCD thing?
It's definitely not a 'hardware can't keep up' issue - I'm running a 2.2Ghz Centrino Duo with 256MB display memory and 2GB of RAM.
Okay so I think I've narrowed it down to my touchpad. I could reliably reproduce the disappearing act if I scroll with the 'side scroll' feature. The hand tool seems to work fine though - I've made a keyboard shortcut (Alt-space like Indesign) for a one shot pan which works pretty well. If the issue does occur, I've also found a bit of a workaround - just choose 'new window' from the window menu and the graphics reappear. You have to close the offending window (at some stage), but at least you don't have to restart Corel. If you can live without some of the advanced features like browser gestures, a very old version of my synaptics touchpad driver didn't produce the problem with the disappearing graphics even when scrolling - let me know and I can send the driver through. Cheers jbng :-)
I ended up re-installing corel draw, and the problem has not resurfaced.
