Hello everybody!
I have this issue with Corel Draw 12 and any help will be most appreciate:
When I open a file it takes about 3 to 10 min, even more. I make rubber stamps so my files contain circles with text fitted on it and no more than 10 rubber stamps models.
I reinstalled Corel Suite but no hope.
If I create a new file, draw a rectangle (or a rubber stamp) and save it, the next time this file opens instantly. If I open an old file, after finally opens, I delete everything in it and save it, the next time it will take several minutes to open. Also, the empty file is about 700 KB long, comparing to a new empty file which is about 12 KB long.
Please help!
The Corel stuff no longer supports Corel 12 (even if I've seen the same problem on other forums, reported for higher versions, with no real solution) so you are my only hope.
Thank you!
NB: Old files are the files created before reinstalling Corel Suite; and they are a lot
Hi.
Can you post a file here for use to look at? Post one that opens slow.
Also, it sounds like you have a lot of color styles built up in the file. After opening go to Tools > Colors Styles to check.

Thank you RunFlaCruiser for your quick answer.
Unfortunately the max. size of uploaded files is 256 KB. I'll try this trick: attach the first chunk of a spanned zip file to this post and put the rest in the next posts. I hope it works.
Also the names of the next files are: sample_file.z01 and sample_file.z02. I had to rename them because of extensions allowed.
About the color styles, when I try Tools/Color styles Corel Draw is not responding anymore, at least the last 10 minutes ;). I'm still waiting :)
the rest of the zip file ...
please rename it to sample_file.z01
... and the last chunk
please rename it to sample_file.z02

You could have used any of the free file storage websites like 2shared.com to upload your file and pasted it's link here to avoid all those nibblings. :)

not only speed, also file size. I only deleted all your Color Styles (Tools/Color Styles) and your Saved Views (Ctrl+F2).
Hello Ariel
As I said later when I tried to do Tools/Color Styles Corel Draw freezes. The only way to get rid of the color styles was with wOxxOm's macros and with Corel X3. Even X3 freezes at Tools/Color Styles.
Thank you for the answer
I'm having the same problem opening a client's file I was working on. Deleted the view styles and text styles. tried deleting the colour styles but it just freezes my Corel 12, X3 and X5. I designed the job using corel 12. It seems even after deleting text and view styles, its still taking a long time to open. here is a download link of the file.

I don't know what to do... Help
It seems that you have hundreds of color styles in the file. It may freeze if it goes beyond certain level for the memory to handle. On option I could suggest is to try copying and pasting from X5 to new X5 file. Post SP3 in X5 will not carry forward the color styles with copy paste.

Hello Ejiro, hello everybody!
As I said in the previous posts I solved my problem with the X3 free patch provided by xOxxOm (Thank you!). I installed it in X3. What it does is open the files without the color styles. After the Save (12 format) the file is clean.
Another problem was that Corel Draw 12 was opening very slow and any new file created became corrupted with color styles after the first Save. To solve this problem I deleted the Corel Draw template (C:\Documents and Settings\<current user>\Application Data\Corel\CORELDRW.CDT) (I'm not sure about the path but you'll find it :) ) which is also full of the color styles. As a result any new file will be saved correctly and Corel Draw 12 opens much faster. Unfortunately when you'll open an old file, full of color styles, those styles will be copied in the CORELDRW.CDT and it became corrupted again. So be carefull to "disinfect" the old files with xOxxOm's patch (or delete the .CDT from time to time :) )
Good luck!
