.CDR file created in Corel Draw 12 does not open in Corel Designer 12

Hi,

We use CorelDraw 12 and Corel designer 12 for creating static graphics. The .CDR and .DES formats are stored in our CMS (Content Management System) for future edits.

The issue is people using Corel Designer 12 on their machines are not able to open / edit .CDR files created using CorelDraw 12 and vice versa. In addition, the .EPS format exported using CorelDraw 12 is non-editable as it appears as bitmap file in Object Manager.  

I don't see an option to attach screenshots here to provide clarity for the query.

Could anyone suggest a workaround to this issue?
