I would like a fragment of a text to look like it was made of a rope - more or less like on this photo (though not photorealistic, simpler and more graphic):

one the answers is to create an Artistic Media brush: draw a part of the rope, opemn the Artsitic Media docker under the Window menu, and drag the object to the docker for add it to the list. then. you can use it as a brush for other object (lines, rectangles, circles...
