I've wondered for a long if there is a way to place the point of rotation exactly where you want it without dragging it and eyeballing the position. Specifically, when I want to rotate duplicate objects around a circle as in the attached jpeg. As you can see, this example is "close enough" but not exact. I'd like to be able to mathematically place the rotation point exactly on the center point of my circle. Is there a command for this?
Do you have Snap to Objects enabled?
At least with version X5 and newer, that works just fine for dragging the rotation center and snapping it to the Center of another shape.
Hi, snap to center works also in X4. shortcut key I often use is ALT+Z to toggle snapping on and off. Maybe this guy has X3 only though...
X5 is the oldest version I have on this machine; have X3 as the oldest version on my workplace machine.
I don't have any history in my head for the evolution of snap features in CorelDRAW.
I tried in my X3 now in XP under Virtualbox. Snapping works there too. :-)
Thanks for checking, Jeff.
I guess I would have to add to my original question, then:
If somebody wanted to mess with me, quietly unchecking one or two of those boxes would be a good way to do it.
Hi, Thanks for all the replies and for the macro. Indeed my problem was that "center" was not enabled in snap to objects. I didn't know that "snap to" worked on the rotation pin. Thanks again for the help!
