My husband sadly died earlier this year. He had been using the old Coreldraw 8 and had produced many leaflets and posters. I need to edit these but his windows XP computer has just finally stopped working. The only computers I have to work on now are my old computer with windows 7 or my new one with windows 10.
I have the three discs and password for Coreldraw 8 and have tried to install it, unsuccessfully, on both of my computers and am assuming it is because it's incompatible with these versions of windows. I could purchase the latest home/student version, but have been told by the helpline that I cannot edit files which were produced with old Coreldraw 8.
I cannot start all over again and reproduce these documents as I don't have the know-how. Please can anyone advise me?
Sobia, thank you for the information but I was informed by chat online that the latest Corel version cannot open the old version 8 files which is what I need to do.
Peteski, I withdrew a couple of posts as I think I posted them with some personal information on. Not a good start! Anyway I await my discs from Ebay with baited breath and hope they work - and that I am up to doing the editing that needs to be done.
Oh good, I was wondering about those disappearing posts.
So you have baited breath too? You made me smile. I used to write it that way until someone pointed out to me that if I had baited breath I would probably have worms (bait) in my mouth. Since that time, whenever I'm anxiously awaiting something I do it with bated breath.
Here is a funny explanation: http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/baited-versus-bated
I like it - excellent. My breath will hereafter be bated!
It has reminded me that my husband used to think the saying 'one fell swoop' was 'fowl swoop' until I corrected him - like this https://www.dailywritingtips.com/one-fell-swoop/
I finally received my Corel 12 discs from EBay today and installed it. I am pleased to report that it works on my computer on Windows 7 and I have managed to edit a poster and a certificate which were needed urgently. It took me quite a long time as I am not very proficient, some things by trial and error and some things just happened but not sure how!
Thank you Peteski for your advice.
You're welcome and thanks for the followup. I'm glad that it all worked out for you. Just we more jobs like that and you'll feel right at home in Corel Draw! And if you need help, you can ask questions here.
