Why I'm not a fan of "schooled designers"

Here we go again! Client calls up and asks what format would you like our design in for print. First preference is always the native file it was designed in otherwise pdf with all fonts converted. Why does it matter you ask? We never print files as given because 99% of the time they're not designed to the size they're requesting and other things will undoubtedly need to be moved around and tweaked a bit. Client sends the file labeled "blah_blah_CS4_eps.zip! Unzip and I have a an eps that I can ONLY use in illy. I open the file in illy and try to save out for use in corel. tif at 200 dpi, no can do, pdf, no can do! Save as an ai, nope!

Let's look at this file a little more in depth in illy. File uses blends and drop shadows. ONE SHOULD NEVER EVER SAVE AS EPS WHEN USING THOSE ELEMENTS! Pdf or the orig ai saved down to our version (CS4) is your only option.

Ok so I managed to export out of illy as 150dpi. That's about the max we print at anyway.
