Hello Lee, Gerard, Sharon and others.
After a long period of using TDX5 I come to the conclusion that the default behaviour of the selection procedure in the Object Manager is unnecessarily tedious.
At the moment:
If you have activated the Pick option in the tool list, the selection of an object that does not correspond with the selected tool is refused - you have to select the pick tool first before you can select an other object.
If you select/or have selected the paste tool, and you select not an elementary object, but a grouped one, the selection is refused - you have to select the pick tool first before you can select an other object.
If you have selected the new object, you have to reselect the pick tool again to acces the selected object in the working space and/or change properties in the property bar.
A simple solution would be:
When you select an object in the Object Manager list, the pick tool is automatically activated (preferably as soon as you have moved the mouse pointer outside the Object Manager bar, or at least into the work space). One could consider the exception that the selected object agrees with the currently activated tool. This however should be subject to an option setting in the options list.
Motivation to this proposal is, that when you use the Object Manager to select object, the objective normally is that you WANT to select (= pick) the object.
Acceptance of this proposal will prevent a lot of extra mouse moves to the tool bar and a lot of annoyance when you discover again and again you have to relselect the pick tool first.
I hope this change will be implemented in the next Service Package!
Kind regards.
