Jodie Foster

I did this piece a few years ago. I really like Jodie Foster as an actress and when I saw that photo of her in a German magazine, I thought it might be a good opportunity to pay her a little tribute ;-) and to practice drawing hair, which was quite a challenge. To this point I always worked with Corel Photopaint 8. Then I had the occasion to check Photoshop for a few weeks. So I started this drawing with Photoshop, but I soon got frustrated with that programme. I turned back very soon to Photopaint and finished this work with it. And I never tried that again. :D Digitally drawn with Corel Photopaint using a tablet by Wacom.

I think you're right. It is a lttle bit too dark. I can't recall what the reference looked like, but this is one mistake I still run into.

The reason why might be that I first paint everything really dark, almost black. I love working from dark to light-colored. I should have brightened it up more than I did. But is was much darker, when I started - belive me. :D

Again, amazing amazing work.Your work on her hair is absolutely insane! So life like! Only thing that bothers me a little is the lower part of her face seems a bit dark, but I don't know what the original looked like that you worked from. Still, amazing skills. Thanks for sharing.
