Creating seamless patterns in Corel PHOTO-PAINT is easy, fun and interactive. With the new Edit Fill dialog that was introduced in version X7, it’s very simple to do.
1) Create a New Image: File > New… (Ctrl + N), size 500 x 500 pixels.
2) Create any image, brush strokes or simple object, and place it wherever you want. For this tip, I’m placing it in the middle.
3) Save it twice. Once in a custom folder of your own (as a backup and for reference), and then save it again in the following folder so that PHOTO-PAINT can find it in the Edit Fill dialog box: Documents > Corel > Corel Content > Bitmap Patterns.
4) Click on: Edit > Fill (Ctrl + Backspace), to open the Edit Fill Dialog. (Or click the Interactive Fill tool (G), in the Toolbox and then click the Edit Fill icon on the Property Bar). You can also double-click the Fill tool (F), which will open the same dialog box.
5) Click on the Bitmap Fill icon at the top left of the dialog box and then click the New Source from file icon, where it says 80x80. Now choose the image that you just saved.
6) Make additional edits to your image if necessary in the Blend transition and Transformations panels and click OK.
7) Open a new image and choose the Fill tool to fill the image with your new fill.
8) Now use the Interactive Fill tool to fill and adjust the way the new pattern fills your image by adjusting the settings. If you don’t want to risk unintentionally skewing the image, you can hold down the Ctrl-key on the keyboard to constrain the image as it is being placed.
