Hi, I am creating an illustration of a 50's diner,I want to create a neon tube with a glow around it as if it is lit up,I have done the line draw of the neon strip, converted the line to an object, then did a drop shadow in the normal mode with a low feather number, but it just isn't bright enough to look like a "neon" strip.
any ideas???? vince c.
You probably need to change the merge mode of the drop shadow (from multiply to normal or add).
Regards,Hendrik
Adding a duplicated object with a slight gaussian blur behind your original helps complete the effect. I often use Overlay or Softlight for this object's blend mode and sometimes stack multiple layers of the blurred image to build it up. Neon glows so make it glow...
Some notes and techniques that may help:
Ahmad, Your info really helped, thanks for the input Vince
Hendrik--Thanks it was so simple--I have one more needed tip--picture two oval ring objects---one is vertical up the other is horizontal across--I want to intersect the two so it looks like the foreground part of the horizontal ring looks like it is in front of the vertical ring and the back of the horizontal ring is behind the vertical ring--do you see it?
