Loupe

We talked about this years ago. It is important to me now more than ever because snap is unreliable. I often have to check that the alignment I expect has indeed happened and a loupe would be great for that. What I envisage

  1. Configurable shape, circle or rectangle
  2. Configurable size
  3. Option for wireframe view within loupe only
  4. Configurable magnification
  5. A ratio control . Because, like the navigator tool, at high magnifications a small mouse movement would make a big movement within the loupe, So the ratio would scale the actual mouse movement down so that movement of the object magnified within the loupe was controlable.
  6. Be able to initiate at the current mouse position with a hot key. Same hotkey to remove it.
  7. Guidelines would be magnified along with all objects.

And what would be really excellent would be the ability to select and move/manipulate an object within the loupe, but this is not an essential requirement. That would require the loupe to have handles to move and close the loupe such as shown in the attaced. (Note the mockup has been created using the magnify lens and as such the guidelines are ignored by the lens so the display looks odd)
