And here comes one more blog on the InterWeb... Welcome!

My name is Gérard Métrailler. I moved to Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) in November 2006 to work for Corel Corporation as the Sr. Product Manager, Graphics, responsible for CorelDRAW, Corel DESIGNER, Corel DRAWings as well as a few other products. The global responsibility of my job description means I travel regularly, and the Product Management aspect means that I spend a lot of time talking with customers, partners and press, as well as almost all the Internal teams at Corel, while keeping an eye on the technology evolution and how it can benefit our customers. And as I am writing about my employer, please note that all the postings made by me on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent Corel’s positions, products, strategies or opinions.

Why yet another blog on the interweb? I want to use this blog as a way to share ideas, thoughts and things that are happening in the world of the CorelDRAW based products and the Graphics space in general. The content of this blog will shape-up depending on what is happening in the community. For non-CorelDRAW / non-Graphics related topics, you can also check out my other blog under blog.metrailler.net.

I really enjoy my job in product management and speak English, French and German... my latest crazy idea: Learning Japanese... I am making (very) slow progress with that. Having grown-up in Switzerland, I’ve worked and traveled for many IT companies around the world, ranging from groupware and graphics software (I worked for Micrografx for 4 years) to web services (it wasn’t called Web 2.0 back then), peer-to-peer and mobile computing. In 2003, I moved to the UK to work for Corel and lived there for just under four years. Since then, I’ve moved to Canada.

That’s it for now… enjoy this blog and feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments by sending me a private message.

I look forward to exchanging information on this site and anywhere else, online or off-line :)

Gérard
