As you certainly know by now, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 (as well as all the other products of the CorelDRAW X5 family) includes Corel CONNECT, a built-in search tool that helps you to quickly find images, templates, fonts, clipart and more, either from the CorelDRAW DVD or on your hard drive / local network. With Service Pack 1, we launched version 2.0 of Corel CONNECT, adding  the capability to search millions of images on Flickr, Fotolia and iStockPhoto websites.

With Corel CONNECT, you can simply search by keywords or browse in thumbnail view to see file name, size, resolution and color information. Once you find the content you need, import it into your document or store it in the tray at the bottom of your screen for quick access. Corel CONNECT is available as a CorelDRAW, Corel DESIGNER and Corel PHOTO-PAINT docker as well as as a standalone application, so you can choose whichever mode suits your workflow best.

As we continue to work on CONNECT, we want to know about which online content provider you use for stock photo and stock clip-arts. This will enable us to work with the most used providers and see how we could integrate their service within Corel CONNECT with future versions. Please let us know, through the comments, how you use Corel CONNECT today, and what stock providers you would like to see added in the future?

  • Hi!

I'd be glad to see Clipart.com as part of providers.

  • Like Pratik, I use Stock.XCHNG -- http://www.sxc.hu/ -- and prefer that because the images are intended for use free of charge. The people who post their images specify usage guidelines; often they allow even commercial usage but like to know how the images are being used so appreciate feedback. It's an excellent resource!

I am concerned about the integration of Flickr etcetera -- are the images intended by their authors to be available for use by CorelDraw users? It was my understanding that images posted online, unless specifically posted for people to use, are copyright-protected. Not that in most cases the owners will sue, but should we not be respecting copyright, even in this era of the Internet?

  • Hello,

Most occasions I use istockphoto.com and that is already in CONNECT. Awesomely helpful. At times I also use stock.xchng (www.sxc.hu). It is connected with istockphoto.com in some extent. But very good images on site. Would love to see it in future release.
