Corel DESIGNER Technical Suite X5 includes the tools and features for those who rely on technical illustrations and diagrams to communicate the strengths of their products and services, which include assembly instructions, user guides, maintenance manuals and floor plans that can be outputted to various media, such as print, online and interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs).

Corel DESIGNER® X5 also offers enhanced support for Adobe products, including Illustrator® CS5, Photoshop® CS5 and Acrobat® 9.

You can find all the details, download the trial version and a lot more at corel.com/designer. And there is even a special price for those who already have CorelDRAW Graphics Suite and need to do more technical graphics and illustrations.

  • Another option for accessing the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 content is to install it with an administrative setup (Extras\setup.exe /a). This setup is used for posting the Extras to a (shared) folder when using CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 in a network environment (deploying the software to multiple PCs, accessing the content from a central location).

Of course that doesn't mean you're allowed to make that content available to any computer without a CDGS X5 license.

  • The best solution is to copy the files from the Extras folder on the DVD to your hard drive manually. The Extras installer basically does that and makes sure the folder you have copied the files to is being indexed by the Windows Desktop Search functionality. Do this after you installed DESIGNER, so that he Corel Graphics Shell Extensions are installed on your computer and you can index / preview the content from Windows.

  • I'm aware of that. The problem is that I do not have the dvd (as a beta tester I got a download version). I do have a CDX5 dvd but the extras there are refused to install - see above. I had them on my computer but install TDX5 removed all that first (removing the installed CDX5).

    Does a practical solution exist?

  • The extras on the DESIGNER X5 DVD include everything from CorelDRAW X5.

  • When you have installed TDX5 with CDX5 you cannot install the extras from the previous CDX5 DVD. That is, if you try it asks you to first install CDX5 itself from the DVD (wich is an older version. Is there a more convenient solution for this?
