As a follow-up to my previous blog post, I wanted to share some of the things that will be changed / fixed based on users feedback. This is not the complete list as we are still working on it, but should give you an idea of a few things we have coming over the summer with the first Service Pack for CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5.

  • Overall, we will be addressing the top Windows Error Reporting (WER) issues with SP1, and we review the WER reports on a regular basis, therefore, we strongly encourage you to send us a WER report if you encounter an error.
  • Enhanced support for Pantone Huey lighting compensation.
  • Enhanced file filters for the following file formats: AI, CGM, DSF/DRW, EMF, EPS, JPG, PDF, TIF, WMF and VSD; as a result, you will experience improvements when importing and/or exporting the file formats.
  • When printing files that contain overprints, the separations in the print preview will not display unless Simulate Overprints is enabled in the View Menu. However, the overprint will be maintained in the output, whether the option is enabled or not.
  • Resolved a number of stability issues when you have many dockers (e.g. Undo docker, Extrude docker, Fillet/Scallop/Chamfer docker) open in the workspace.
  • Resolved stability issues when copying and pasting groups that contain vector effects, dimensions, and connectors.
  • Improved results when opening files that were created in a previous version and also include transformed objects, such as callouts, rectangles with envelopes or linear gradients, Artistic Media objects, and transparency gradients. This may result in transparency gradients appearing differently after applying the SP1 update; however, the appearance will be consistent with opening the files in a previous version.
  • Improved spot colour functionality within the document/image palette.
  • Added the ability to perform name searches within spot color palettes.
  • Improved text functions when working with text outside the Latin codepage.

As mentioned before, this is just a sub-set of what will be included with Service Pack 1. Stay tuned for more information.

For those in Canada, happy Canada day!

  • Well, SP1 cannot come soon enough.

I purchased X5 a week ago and have already gone back to X3.

X5 continuously shuts down when scrolling with the mouse.

Using Auto-centering in Powerclip doesn't center.

Switching from Enhanced view has to be done manually instead of using Shift+F9, and when shifting back it switches to Normal instead of Enhanced.

Selecting and shifting items has a lag.

The interface (skin) should return back to that in X3. It's as if the icons have been changed just for change sake without improving them.

Saving drawings increases file size 3 times.

Shadow effect from X3 files to X5 is very pixely.

Apart from that I don't have anything to complain about.

  • Good news Gerard, thank you for pre-explanation.

  • Please make sure to report your problems through technical support.

  • Pls correct these in SP1

    Problem 1

    I export 10" x 10" box to tiff format at 150 dpi....

I again want to export the same box at 300 dpi....the height & width changes

it was not in earlier versions...u export at any resolution...the size remains the same

    Problem 2

Now I want to convert the same box to bitmap. We normally do this by keyboard shortcut (Alt + .) and convert to bitmap window appears with the resolution field selected. It should change the resolution when I type a new one instead of this I have to select the resolution field again to make it active. This is very irritating to select the field which is already highlighted.
