As a follow-up to my previous blog post, I wanted to share some of the things that will be changed / fixed based on users feedback. This is not the complete list as we are still working on it, but should give you an idea of a few things we have coming over the summer with the first Service Pack for CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5.
As mentioned before, this is just a sub-set of what will be included with Service Pack 1. Stay tuned for more information.
For those in Canada, happy Canada day!
Will let you take the reports here Gerard and supply them to the "Technical Support" on our behalf as you have a better relationship with them. They make it too complicated and time consuming to contact them.
You can find the contact details in the support section of http://www.corel.com
I really love CorelDraw but the newest release (X5) has me really disappointed that a company can put a product like that on the market.
I gave X5 another try and now I find that fonts randomly print out pixally. I've printed to different printers and the problem occurs on all of them so it is a X5 problem.
Even rectangles print with different thicknesses on each side.
This adds to my list of problems with X5. Can't wait for SP1 to come out. In the mean time I'll convert all my work back to X3.
How do I get in touch with Technical Support Gerard?
CDX5 is pretty OK on XP SP3, however after a while XP becomes slow, sometimes the toolbars shift around on their own when minimizing and maximizing CDX5, when opening or importing the thumbnails are empty in the open / import box (maybe a refresh problem) and lastly the main window where you work with graphics in CDX5 is terrible with refreshing, you always have to do a manual refresh. Apart from the oldschool toolbars (Windows 98 flat style) its not too bad. But yes still room for improvement, I hope SP1 will address this, I've been using CD since v5 and am a CD fan. Overall its a good application.
I hope that the above really is a sub-set of what you have been working on, the most important item of improving/optimising bitmap preview re-draw to make the application usable in large format printing is not ignored, X5 is currently not being used due to speed problems and stability.
