OK, software piracy is continuing to be a big problem around the world. According to BSA, 35% of all software used around the world is pirated. While it varies from product to product, we know that some of you are using CorelDRAW illegally. But sometimes, people don't seem to think to much. One example that my colleagues on the Customer Service team just forwarded is worth me sharing with you. Anyone can tell me what's wrong with this customer request? Cool

  • We have a fairly good idea of the piracy levels of CorelDRAW, but this is not information I will be able to share publicly ;-)

  • How much piracy of Corel products in the US do you think there is?

  • hi Gerard,

I find that sometimes young people have no idea the difference between free and commercial software. The MP3 trading of the last 10 years has planted the idea in youth that digital downloads have no financial value. One needs to explain to them that this is $400.00, not $0.00. Then they seem like "Oh!". But there's no feeling of guilt, due to the intangible nature of software.

In next version, can it be set that they must enter some code in order to become a member of Coreldraw.com? Then this key is only way into "the club" in order to have profile/gallery/or post questions.

  • Gee wizz  Gérard, I can't see3 a thing wrong with it...but it sure "cracked" me up reading it !

The sender is very naive or brand new to using a computer not to know the "obvious". I tend to lean towards the latter because of the open honesty within the message. The response was perfect...not condensending, but I'm sure that the Customer Support Team member replying couldn't believe what he / she was reading !
