Hi there,
sorry to bother...
I was wondering how to link in A.cdr another .cdr file named B.cdr.
I want that when I modify B.cdr the modification are trasimtted in A.cdr
This is similar to XREF in AutoCAD.
is it possible?
you can use external linked images for bitmap, not for vector
With caveats. Its not like its super reliable is it Ariel?
If you do use linked images do so with your eyes open. Search the forums and you will find a list of the problems. Notable is the propensity of previous versions to inflate the bitmaps after printing or sending to PDF. BEWARE.
The biggest problem is that many users do not understand how it works.
If you have a 1 Mb JPG, it means that is the size of the compressed image, while closed. When you open it (in PhotoPaint, Photoshop or any other) and when you import it (in CorelDRAW, InDesign or any other program), the JPG is unzipped, and has the normal "weight", for example it becomes 5 or 10 Mb.
So, some people calculate like this: "I have 3 photos of 1 Mb each, and a file of 500 Kb, there should be a file of 3.5 Mb". Well no, in reality the photos are going to weigh 5 or 10 Mb each, and you have to add color profiles and so on. CorelDRAW compresses the files, but not as much as the JPG algorithm, so as not to damage the content.
No, the biggest problem is it is buggy. You need to know what the bugs are to be able to work round them. And there are some very serious, non-buggy limitations with Corel implementation, which when all said and done is 15 years old and never updated.
