corel draw x5

for vinyl cutting purposes-  We are not able to cut the symbols that we alter from the symbols library in corel draw x5. we are using cutmaster 2. do they have to be vectored, if so how do we vector in corel draw. Any help?

  • Hi Dot,

Been cutting vinyl for years! Anything that you send to your vinyl cutter must be Vectorized. Try converting the symbols to curves. If they are bitmap or jpg you will need to Trace them with Corel Trace.

  • Hello dot; When doing a outline you will more than likely end up with some rought lines. it depends on what symbols you want to cut, if it's the fonts symbols just type it in the font you want. if is one of the others you will probley want to digitize it on screen and then export it in a format your cutting program will read "Ai, EPS, DXF, PLT" ect.

    Hi.

I'm not exactly sure how your cutting master reads files. The cdr symbols and any font should be vectors already. Usually you'll want to import into your sign program an ai or eps file or auto import if the program provides a macro to do so. Some sign software looks for an outline that is a certain cutline color.
