Hello, I am a t-shirt designer and am self taught in Corel Draw. Ive been doing this for years but I am having trouble with a very simple design.. I have an outline of a heart with the word love on top of it... Parts of the text lay on the heart... They want white ink for both heart and text but you loose parts of the text that lays on top of the heart.. How do I cut out the heart in the spots where the text lays but I want it cut in the shape of the word love laying on top of it. Im sure this is a simple click of a couple buttons but I have no clue what buttons! Thanks for any help! Christine
Maybe I can help with these instructions...........
Hi Mike, You helped me with cutting the word love out of this heart a long time ago and now I am having an issue with another design and it seems to be about the same problem but reversed. I have large text stacked in 4 lines that say CHECK ONE CHECK TWO.. in pink.. I need to put a black microphone "into" the text so the black makes up the letters along with the pink.... Hope that makes sense.. Each letter would be made up of pink and black and where the letter stops its just the shirt.
Can you help again? Thank You so much! Christine
Place the microphone over the text and with selected microphone choose Effects – Powerclip – Place Inside container and then click on text
Best regards
Mek
Ok great! That was easy but can you tell me how to select the black and the pink seperate to be able to screen print in two colors? Thank You Very Much! :)
Since it's not a very complex design I would use smart fill and, on a new layer, click on all the black bits. After you are done extract the mic from the text and delete it, now you have two layers, one with the text and the other with the mic bits.
Could you direct me as to how to do the smart fill and create a new layer.. Right now I cant click on any black being its all one piece in the letter. Thank You Again! (this is so hard) but I am trying! :)

You can get a color separation during print - Print Options – Color – Print separation. If you print your design to the postscript file (via postscript print driver supplied with CorelDraw Suite) then you can import this file back into CorelDraw and then have two page document, each page for one color.
Best regards,
Thank You So Much for all of your help.. I was getting grey hair trying to figure this one out! :)
