When you extract everything from a powerclip, the object that was the powerclip retains it's powerclip state. Someone must have thought this was a good idea, I find the "feature" slightly annoying. The biggest problem is when it no longer has any contents, that big X appears across the object to show that it's an empty powerclip. OK, I can deal with that or ignore it, but the problem is, the thing acts like it's part of the object as far as printing goes, and that I can't have. This can't be the way it was originally intended to work? Shouldn't it be just an on-screen indicator, and not a physical part of the object now? I know I can revert the object back to a "normal" object, but it seems to be just another useless step that shouldn't be needed.
What I'd like to see is an option that when a powerclip no longer has any objects inside, it automatically reverts to a normal object like in previous versions of Draw. Of course, it's too late now, that will never happen. If anything, it should be possible to have the empty powerclip X indicator be changed over to a "phantom" object that is only shown on screen and doesn't exist in any other way so that it doesn't print or otherwise effect the drawing.
Great, it shows up in PDFs too. Looks like I'll have to get used to hitting that "No Frame" button every time I hit the "Extract Contents" button. Or maybe I'll write a macro to do both and link it to a toolbar button. Reminds me of a post I made about Corel Script in version 6 (yes, six, not sixteen) where it allowed us to write our own "feature" fixes when options were removed for no good reason.

I'm sure that wasn't intended to happen.
But presumably that would go away if you drop a dummy object (eg a rectangle with no fill, no outline) into the powerclip.
Hello, This issue is known to Corel and hope to have a solution soon.
BTW in the future update, can u make an option to chouse by default when you extract something the frame to become "None" insted "empty PowerClip Frame"?
Sorry for my English

I would like this as well. Plus, once a powerclip frame is "empty" if you drag something over it, the option to drop into the frame is opt out, it should be opt in.
What I mean is, you have to hold a key to make it work like a normal object, or it will automatically drop the object into the frame. It should be the other way around, you should have to hold a key to drop the object into the frame, otherwise it just acts like any other object.
Hope the "X" bug fix is in SP1, or I'm going to have to write that macro. Might do it anyway, so I don't have to re-teach everyone who uses Draw that powerclips now work completely different for no good reason I can see other than to change how powerclips work.

Thanks.
L_G_D, what do you mean "Looks like I'll have to get used to hitting that 'No Frame' button every time I hit the 'Extract Contents' button"? Were you kidding or is there in fact some kind of "No Frame" button? I looked everywhere and don't see any command, button, or any way of any kind to convert a powerclip frame back to a normal object. Where is this button?
Right click on "No fill" perhaps...

Right click on the object and do frame type=none.
Thank you, harryLondon! That works.
For anyone else searching for this problem, you right-click the object, and right near the TOP of the context menu is the option "Frame Type." You just pick "None" from that.
The "None" button is also available on the Layout Toolbar (Window > Toolbars > Layout) and can be found in Customization > Commands by hitting the search button and searching for "None." I added it to the property bar for graphic objects so it's up there whenever I select a graphic.
Hi all just adding my two cents here, just chucked a print job because of the stupid X, can we please go back to the old power clip or give us the ability to turn all the new features of, sick of dragging something over a power clip to have it get sucked into it.
If you have the latest update, you can change the option so that the X never prints. (tools->options->powerclip frame)

Good tip Frame, Thanks!
