ok, finally went to install and update X6 via the internet. what a drag/problem I knew this would be... so here goes.
Installed the intial X6 fine, got email for 90 days tech support etc..I guess it activated and sent serial to my account/corel. ..went to update to 6.1...seemed to install fine... seemed to see something about getting a STANDARD membership. So figured..ok...going great... well.... went to install 6.2 and the problem started.
now it says I don't have a level of membership or something? cannot install 6.2 or the hotfix after.
I will contact customer support when I get a moment, but wondering if anybody knows why this is happening. such a drag jumping through hoops just to UPDATE my software. I don't care about the extra MEMBER features...I want the FIXES...which should install if member status is FINE or NOT FINE.
I might just stick with X5 as it is working fine...i.e. doesn't BOMB when UPDATING TEXT of prior version files, new way of powerclip annoyance etc.
Hi,
If Corel is closed today the 27th december, they are open again after the holiday. Quite common in most western countries at this time of year, so after new year they will start to be open for service again :-)
Corel official statement HOTFIXhttp://community.coreldraw.com/blogs/gerard/archive/2012/12/17/x6-2-hot-fix-1-coming-later-this-week.aspx
Corel official statement X6.2http://community.coreldraw.com/blogs/gerard/archive/2012/11/29/coreldraw-graphics-suite-x6-2-available-today.aspx
When you buy the Box/download version of X6.0 you can upgrade for free to the X6.1. if you have a STANDARD membership, which is totally free.If you DONT register a Standard membership, you WONT be able to download/upgrade your program with "Service packs" now called "Update 1" and so forth.
The X6.2 is also free -except for the extra features/tools, contents etcetera. Those features are tools and features you would traditionally only get when the next version of CorelDRAW/Photo-Paint comes out, that would be X7. It takes about 2 years inbetween versions of CorelDRAW Graphics Suite, so these extra features are made available earlier through Corels general development of a new version, and only for those with a PREMIUM Membership. And Premium is for those who pay to get new features and tools AHEAD of others.
STANDARD MEMBERSHIPIf you buy Box/Download version and dont register your product with a FREE Standard Membership, you wont get free upgrades/service packs as it was called before.
PREMIUM MEMBERSHIPPremium as said is for those who like to have tools and features ahead of time, before the next version.
X6.0 | X6.1 | X6.2| Hotfix 1 | - all these updates are free (for Standard members) except the extra tools/feautures and contents for Premium members.
Why your X6.2 isnt working can be of several causes. You could try these two options
1) Look in your lower right corner for a orange or green symbol - it should be GREEN, and no need to ever make it orange. Yes unfortunately it is a human body/head symbol, but its NOT that you are surveiled by Corel, only connected to your account. Unfortunately Corel choosed a symbol that freak some people out.
If this symbol is Orange, then click/hoover over and choose "Sign in" and it becomes GREEN. Again some gets nervous over the wording "Sign in" and "Sign out" - which is very common wording, but for some reason makes some people freak out just because its their program/or/and Corel.com website using the word. But again, you are only connected/Confirming your account ( AND you can disconnect your internet if you like and there is no problem if you feel uncertain, and still use your program, just see to that you connect when you confirm/download your free downloads etcetera).
2) Go to www.corel.com and in the upper right corner click "Sign in" and view your account. In there you will see under "Memberships and Subscriptions" if your memberships STandard vs. Premium is avtivated or maybe something else.
3)
OBSERVE!!! you HAVE to be signed in - GREEN icon - when you UNINSTALL your program, so therefore no worries to be going orange icon. This is for your account at Corel to have your INSTALL COUNT up to date. If you uninstall more than 5 times I believe it is, without being connected to your account, you wont be able to install again. And then you have to call Corel to have it sorted.
Why this???
Piracy of course
Like Stefan says, check your Corel account and see what serial number has been activated for X6.Chances are that you have used the wrong password or something when trying to activate X6.2, and therefore Corel doesn't recognize you.
Hmmm, How can I fix this?
Not knowing how Corel's new Membership thing worked, I installed CorelDraw X6 on my system at work using the boxed version our company bought. When I signed in I used my personal email address because I didn't want my Corel email blocked by the company spam filter (which sometimes happens).
Afterward, I bought CorelDraw X6 for use at home, and I used my personal email again.
What I would like to do is have the work installation refer to my work email address. How do I change the default email address related to the copy I have on my work system? Or does it even matter?
Thanks
Hello folivio; About the last post. you may have to wait for Corel to open after New Years, but you should be able to run the program until then. If you are using the 64 bit ver. expect some trouble until you get the 6.2 update. With the 6.2 update the program run very good.

Thanks SignGuy. I have been able to install the updates. I was just wondering how to get the registration straightened out. Thanks again...
