When you need to edit text, a vector object, or a bitmap object that is placed on a background, you can lock the background to eliminate the risk of accidentally selecting or modifying the background. You simply select the background and click Arrange > Lock Object. When an object is locked, its control handles change to padlocks. After you've finished your editing, select the object again and click Arrange > Unlock Object. You can also use lock an object by right-clicking it and choosing Lock Object from the menu.
