Renaming objects for easier navigation is extremely simple and can help navigate designs with many objects, groups and layers.

In the Object Manager we are presented with a list of pages, layers, guides and all the objects within the document.  A simple right-click on any item will bring up the context menu. Select Rename and rename the object for easier identification.  In this example, here I renamed a group of objects to Basketball.

  • Wow, another neat feature that I did not know....

    • Great tip. Its a must do thing. It becomes way more easier to edit as the illustration gets more complex. Making this a design habit, the extra effort always pays off, especially while returning to files created a while ago.

I find it much easier to set the Layer Manager View to Current Page, Layers only,

... and rename the Layers appropriately.

I work this way as I am very often delivering designs in AI format, and this method matches the AI layer methods the best.

Hopefully future version will redesign the Layer View Manager and provide more options.  The Object Manager tab, has not seen much improvement for many moons! :)

        • Wasn't this one of those features that has been around for quite some time?

We need some avenue to get as much of this information in the for front as possible.

          • I use this continuously, and name virtually every object and group.  Is there any way to assign a hotkey for this vital function?
