CDPSX5EN_RightIn addition to the recent introduction of CorelDRAW Home & Student Suite X5, I am also very excited to announce the new CorelDRAW Premium Suite X5.

Over the years, the CorelDRAW team has been working very hard to deliver a great suite of graphics applications that enables you to create anything from logos, to billboards, from web graphics to flyers and car wraps. With CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 we added a whole new color management system, powerful web graphics (including the pixel preview mode) and many enhancements to existing features such as the mesh-fill to mention a few. With the first Service Pack for CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5, we expanded the capabilities of Corel CONNECT (a brand new app in X5) to not only enable you to search for your local assets, but also to be able to access millions of online photos on services such as iStockPhoto, Fotolia of Flickr.

While we know from our research and your direct feedback in the CorelDRAW.com community that for some of you this covers all your needs when it comes to graphics. We also know that the Graphics Suite is not as feature-rich as some of you would like when it comes to web, animation and video production. I am not referring to high-end web & flash development / video production tools used by those who are specialized in these tasks, much more applications that graphics users can easily learn and use to create great looking web sites, impactful videos for YouTube/Vimeo or simple digital signage for their small businesses.

We also know that many of you use CorelDRAW on an occasional basis, and that you are looking for a solution that enables you to create amazing things, yet that is easy to use. Putting all these requirements together, we recently announced the CorelDRAW Premium Suite X5 in English and German language. This package includes the full CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 (with the hard-cover book and content) and adds different applications to expand your toolbox beyond graphics:

  • Corel Website Creator X5: This is a brand new application for Corel that we have developed in partnership with NetObjects. It provides all the tools you need to create great looking websites for your company or your customers with no prior HTML / Web development knowledge required. This product includes wizards and professionally designed templates to get you going quickly, and offers more advanced technical capabilities (AJAX, timelines, version tracking, …) for those interested in creating a more robust and sophisticated online presence.
  • Corel VideoStudio Pro X3: The latest version of our award winning video editing package is also included in CorelDRAW Premium Suite X5. This is an easy-to-use, yet very powerful video editing software that enables you to create amazing videos (including transitions, special effects and custom text overlay) that you can then post on YouTube / Vimeo or burn to a DVD / Blu Ray disc to show on your big screen, e.g. a fantastic tool to create a digital sign for your small business (Create TV-size pages with CorelDRAW, do the transition with VideoStudio, burn them to a DVD / Blu Ray disk and play them on a TV).
  • Corel WinZip 14.5 Pro: We are also including the latest version of WinZip in the Premium Suite. We know that many of you need to package your files to send them to printers / partners (including the CDR file, the printable and viewable PDF, the spec sheet, …). In addition to that, WinZip Pro includes great back-up features (you do make regular backups of your work, don’t you?)
  • Swish Max 3: This advanced Flash creation application goes well beyond the version that comes with CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 (Swish MiniMax 2) and enables you to create advanced Flash animations with an easy-to-use tool.

This really provides additional tools beyond what comes with Graphics Suite for those of you who need / are interested in them. And if you have already made the switch to CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5, you can contact the Corel customer service and they will provide you with an option to get these extra applications for a special price.

    (English version of the previous post)

    Hi Gerard,

    I was a fan of CorelDraw (version 5 & version 8) back in the 90s but I put them aside because my job had changed 10 years ago.

    The interest is still there as a hobbyist. I hesitate between then new Home & Student suite X5 and Premium X5 versions. I could only afford the Premium if I am allowed for an upgrade from the old version 8. The Premium is interesting for it includes a video editor and a Web site editor.

    First, is it possible to create a simple Web site with the Home & Student suite X5? For someone like me, that has been away from these technologies for years, will I be lost with the Premium? At this point what is important is to be able to learn. Therefore access to documentation (in French), online tutorials (in French or English) and support forums is crucial. If I am only facing failure because the software is too complex (Premium) or has too many limitations(H&S), I will get frustrated and probably forget about this hobby.

    What would you suggest?

    Bonjour Claude,

    il est possible de faire la mise-à-jour vers la version Premium X5 depuis n'importe quelle version de CorelDRAW (mis à part les version étudiant, NFR et OEM). Donc oui, il est possible de faire une mise-à-jour depuis une version complète de CorelDRAW 8.

    CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 n'existe que en Anglais et en Allemand pour le moment. En ce qui concerne CorelDRAW Home & Student Suite X5, cette version ne dispose pas des outils de création de site web et d'édition vidéo.

    Bonjour Gérard,

    J'étais un utilisateur de CorelDraw (version 5 et version 8) dans les années 1990 puis je les ai délaissés ayant depuis un rôle de gestionnaire.

    Je m'y intéresse à nouveau en tant qu'utilisateur amateur pour mon bon plaisir. J'hésite entre la nouvelle version Home & Student suite X5 et la version Premium X5. La version Premium n'a de sens que si j'arrive à l'obtenir comme mise à niveau de la version 8, car elle inclut aussi l'éditeur Video X3 et des possibilités de création d'un site Web.

    Est-ce que la version Home & Student suite X5 permet aussi de créer un site Web simple? Pour quelqu'un qui s'y remet en amateur vais-je être perdu avec la version Premium ? Un critère très important pour moi vu le retard que j'ai pris, c'est la disponibilité d'une documentation en ligne en français, de guide de formation (préférablement en français) et de support (forum) en anglais ou en français. Si je ne fais qu'accumuler des échecs parce que trop difficile à apprendre ou que je me bute à des limitations parce que trop simplifié, je vais me décourager.

    Merci de m'éclairer dans mon choix.

    JoostJ, yes, we do have a special price for those who already got CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5. You need to contact the customer service team (http://www.corel.com/contactus) as this is only available over the phone (we need to validate you have a genuine X5).

    Hello Gerard.

    When one has upgraded to CorelDraw X5 Graphics Suite just before the Premium Suite became available, is there a fair chance that we can extend that upgrade with the new additions of the Premium Suite for a reasonable price?
