since the objects docker is not a menu "item", I can't figure out how to create a shortcut for "create new layer". Sure would be nice, as I work with a fair amount of layers, and it's a pain to chase that down with the mouse every time I want to add another layer.
Are you currently just using the "New Layer" button at the bottom of the Objects docker?
I'm a big fan of automation in CorelDRAW, but I have never needed to create new layers so frequently that I felt it was slowing me down to not have a shortcut key for it.
No way to add a shortcut key as far as I know, but you can easily record a macro to add a new layer and then run it with a shortcut key.
Yes, or using the gear icon up top. I'm using a lot of layers which are slight variations of others, and adding 10 layers at one time seems to be alot of cross-screen mousing. I'll just do the macro thing.
Hey, that's cool. We all have our own situations and preferences.
If you want to go macro, perhaps something like this:
If Not ActiveDocument Is Nothing Then
ActivePage.CreateLayer "New Page Layer"
MsgBox "No document is active."
