For the last few weeks i've been having a problem where a seemingly completely random selection of fonts just won't work in Corel. These are 'not installed' fonts in a location that is monitored by Font Manager. The fonts show fine in Font Manager, and in the font list in CorelDraw. They even preview correctly at the bottom of the font list. However, when chosen, the text jumps back to arial. There seems to be no consistency in the type of font, and sometimes some members of a font family work and others don't.
Just to clarify how we are set up, we use OneDrive to synchronise fonts between all users here. We have a folder called Active Fonts on each computer which is synchronised by Onedrive. When someone uses a new font, they add the font to this drive and Onedrive then updates the local folder on everyones computer. It avoids having thousands of fonts on a network drive which really slowed things down, keeps the fonts the same for all users, and has been working perfectly for a few years now.
I've made a little video showing this behaviour. As you can see, the majority of fonts are wokring fine, but a significant number just revert to Arial, and there doesn't seem to be any logical reason. The video is at:

I've tried repairing Corel, uninstalling and reinstalling Corel, resetting the font database, but nothing helps. Any ideas what is going on here?
OK, so this problem is already starting to cost us money. We have had a file today that was opened as normal, saved as a PDF and sent to print. There were no warnings when the file was opened, but in one part of the document, the font used failed to open and changed to Arial. The customer is now wanting a reprint. I would be grateful if someone could look into this issue urgently please and let me know if there is any fix, as this has the potential to be an extremely expensive issue if this happens on a larger job.
First why would you sync fonts with OneDrive? Try this, place all fonts on the local system, install the fonts you want to use into Windows. DO NOT embed fonts into your CorelDRAW file.
Just to clarify, did you install the fonts, or did you have them in Font Manager as Not Installed fonts? This issue is ONLY affecting fonts that are 'not installed', but are added to Font Manager.
All fonts are installed I can try them as uninstalled later today. I only have one system running the 506 build that has them installed I'll update the font database on the system to see the fonts but not install them.
I never use fonts via the manager uninstalled as there have been issues with that features since it was created.
As i keep mentioning, the problem does not, and hasn't ever, affect fonts that are installed. It only affects fonts that are NOT INSTALLED. I don't know how I can make this any clearer. I've mentioned this on just about every post on here so far.
The feature has always worked for us perfectly until the latest update.
Ok here is where it's at so far, I have one more system rebuilding the font data base and that could be all day.
When using CFM in 2019, 2020 and 2 versions of 2021 the font Arvo does not show up at all in the font manager, PERIOD. I can get it to show up if I install it and then launch CFM filtered for installed fonts.
With fonts uninstalled all observations from CorelDRAW
2020 arvo unrecognized, epilog works as expected, fira sans only 3 styles recognized.
With 2021 build 363, arvo not recognized, epilogue works as expected except that the drop down does not return to the selected font, fira sans sees all versions however the drop down does not return to the selected font.
Both epilog and fira sans occasionally default to Arial, I suspect it's because of the lag in the default display setting in the font controls. Using the keyboard to scrool for fonts neither epilog nor fira sans would come to the drop down when called.
I tired and neutralized the font display and still epilog would not return to the selected font fira sans was now fine. The keyboard for epilog was still not working.
The keyboard issue existed even when being careful to launch from a font with no subsets.
2021 506 build, arvo not recognized, epilog works as expected, however the font list does not return to the selected font and on occasion the font will change to Arial, using the keyboard I could get the font to show in the drop down. Fira sans showed up but the drop down would not automatically show the selected font, keyboard selection did get the font to pop up.
With fonts installed using Windows Explorer as CFM could not see the Arvo font, build 506.
Everything worked as expected.
Here are the results from a new install of 506 all default settings. Fonts are not installed.
Arvo font is seen in CFM and Draw but not recognized as a font.
Epilog is also seen by both but only a few versions are recognized and unusable as a variable font.
Fira Sans is seen by both programs but not recognized as a font.
Same result if CFM is running or not.
Here are the results from the same system with the fonts installed using CFM.
All fonts are seen and recognized as fonts, everything work except keyboard scrolling. I suspect this is due to this system lacking resources as it is a low powered laptop kept around just for testing and client presentations.
As we can see from version, 2019 to 2021 with two builds of 2021 CFM is with these fonts unpredictable at best. It can be used to install these fonts however if it is used to uninstall some fonts, they my become invisible to CFM in the future ergo it will require you to locate and install them via Windows Explorer.
This is typical behavior from this font manager as shown from version X8 forward.
