My CorelDRAW 2021 is running slow and kind of locking up often at the moment, I have a reasonably high spec / powered system running 32gb of ram, does anybody have any remedies or fixes please? all help greatly appreciated. Thank you
Without knowing anything about you systems and the applications that you run an exact answer is tough.
I can tell you this just does not happen on my systems and make some suggestions.
If you're running 3rd party anti-virus and anti-malware this may be an issue. MS anti-virus and anti-malware does not affect CorelDRAW.
Are the systems laptops? Do they exhibit latency and is it at times significant? Latency can cause corruption or simply very slow behavior.
Do you daily keep up with Windows updates? If not that may contribute to latency.
You may want to clean up the tmp folder, this can contribute to latency.

I do not run any anti virus other than windows (I follow the John Mcafee principle)

Windows Updated, Often happens after a windows update if that helps.
First thing i do is the temp clean up, and clipboard clean up, been asked to do that before by Corelhelpdesk.
I run the subscription version and have no perpetual versions of 2023 ergo no experience with 2023 perpetual.
Are you running 2021 or 2021.5? There was a substantial difference in terms of stability on my system.
I would clean out your tmp folder.
If you experience wonky (that's a technical term) behavior after an update close all applications and reboot Windows.
If this fails do a hard boot, that's a shutdown and after 30 seconds restart.
Now this is going into the weird but I have a laptop that at least once 9r twice a year must be shut down, unplugged from power and the battery removed, then reinsert tye battery and plugged back into power, then the updates finalize and it works fine for a long time.
Now even farther into the bizarre. My current (2 1/2 years old) tower desktop has had issues in the past with being wonky after Windows 10 Pro updates. All but two times a simple reboot resulted in a return to normal behavior. However twice I had to shutdown, pull the power cord from the power supply for a minute and restart. Both times normal operation returned.
My system is an i9 with an Asus main board, an 8GB NVidia graphics card, a Samsung SSD and 64 GB of RAM.
aha Suscription ! That might solve the issue ! no reason to push you for sign up by slowing yoru down! hee hee ha ha
After it started again on Tuesday I thought it was a good time/excuse to replace the old graphics card with a spanking new one I had purchases a month or so ago but never found time to fit. So a super hard reset was preformed only yesterday. fingers were crossed after re booting it may have cleared up but no, the "blue circle of suspence" was still there ! hee hee

That's a wonderful paranoia you've got going but what is described is a a normal process for 2021 but not 2021.5
I don't know anything about perpetual licenses VS subscription I can only tell you a solution. Unfortunately when you buy a perpetual license the update solutions for you are limited.
Even being semi-retired, I'm using the subscription version because the dollar value of reduced, lost time is highly valuable.
When I compare the yearly cost (in U.S. dollars) it takes you three years to recover the base cost of the perpetual licenses but in that time the perpetual license user has run software that is less capable and no enhanced features.
That's fine if you do simple work and have no intentions of enhancing your work.
Haha, Cheers David, Lets call it "Healthy Paranoia", it comes from trying to understand how the modern corporate world works, ie: cars are not designed to last forever as you dont make money from that, software is no longer owned but leased, forcing subs and paying twice as much (corel, quickbooks etc all do it now) and Adobe pioneered it so i lost photoshop. Those profit hungary shareholders (usually pension fund owned shares) need dividends payment to keep paying out those 401ks (i think you call them in the US and all over the world, im UK based) !
It seams it was an issue in all the more recent versions I have owned, and I always like to upgrade every 2-3 years just to open adobe stuff usually as the illustractor files i was sent were always changing. D12 2004 (no problems) X3 (no problems) X5 (no problems) , X7 First started, 2018 first started was unusuable and now 2021. There was never an offer for 2021.5 to own so dont know about it as i purchased 21 in 2022.
now interestingly, I submitted a jokey "tech ticket" explaing it was happening yet again asking them to release the restrictions placed on my account and version. Its now just started working again !!!! but i did also do one of those old fashioned disk defrags on the c: drive too ! Back to being suppa quick ! Paranoia or nat something worked.

It's human nature fore some to believe in corporate, plotting! They do that but it's usually incompetent people trying to hide incompetence or illegal behavior. Not pissing off users just to make them upgrade.
The 1971 Ford Mustang V8 required a tool to remove the driver side motor mount and a special socket to get the #1 spark plug out, just for a tune up! All the other spark plugs could be reached with a standard plug socket.
My father in law was convinced that Ford designed it this way just to sell the tools. He was someone who believed that corporations do things like that because they were smart and devious.
I on the other hand have absolute faith in people and corporations to be effing incompetent. Most people are just not the sharpest tools in the shed and things just get done wrong.
Just remember during WWII the British tried to make Sherman Battle Tank amphibious, they lost all but 2. All the crews and tanks.
