PDFs created in Canva imported into CorelDraw perfectly until 7 Feb 2024. All PDFs created since then say the file is corrupt when trying to pull it in to Corel. The PDFs work fine in all other software I have tried and PDFs created before the specified date work just fine in Corel. Has anyone had the same or similar issue and if so, have you found a solution?
Had the same issue. I found that if I open it in Adobe Acrobat, edit the PDF and copy everything then create a new blank PDF and paste everything into that one and save.
That is pretty much what I am doing at the moment. I am using this website https://online2pdf.com/# to "convert" the pdf to a pdf. It imports perfectly in to corel after that. The problem comes in when there are a heap of pdfs to get through - it just takes too much time. There must be a reason for the sudden change
It doesn't seem to make a difference which font is used. The same fonts worked fine before 7 Feb, but don't since. A plain white PDF with arial font gives the same "file corrupt" issue, but as soon as I remove the text, the PDF imports perfectly.
Wow! That's a new one. I have no idea, clearly Canva changed something.
I guess so. The annoying thing is that none of the other software I use has a problem with the PDFs - only Corel. Hence my hope in finding a solution from the CorelDraw side.
I've only messed around with the free version of Canva (having to help customers export their artwork in some form we can use). Clicking the "Share" button in the upper right corner, selecting Download and then "PDF for Print" seems to work okay. But out of habit I tend to open PDFs first in Acrobat and then in Adobe Illustrator to give them a run thru the Vector First Aid plugin.I'm not a big fan of Canva at all. The only thing sort of positive I can say about it is the fonts selection is fairly impressive, particularly the paid version and its "premium" fonts. Apparently Monotype made a big licensing agreement with Canva. It's staggering how many type foundries Monotype has bought up over the past 20 years (and especially in recent years).
Hi Bobby
Doesn't seem to matter which option I choose in Canva "Print" or "Standard". The only thing that seems to make a difference is whether or not there is text involved.
I agree with your views on Canva, though there are a few decent templates to use. My main problem with it, is that it makes everyone think they are magically graphic designers and then they try to tell you how to do the rest of your job.
