I know how to add gradient, however, after adding gradient, I add a contour. (I wanted solid black contour) 2 days ago I was able to keep the contour solid black. Today when I do the same, the gradient effects the contour. Is there a setting I'm missing? I didn't break the contour apart either a few days ago.
That is set to black on mine as well.
I have no idea how you did yours but I added the gradient then the contour, this is CMYK.
On mine, it doesnt matter if its CMYK or RGB. How many colors did you use on your gradient? Standard 2?
2 works fine, it becomes a problem when you add a 3rd color or more to the gradient. Then it messes up the contour even if its blk/blk.
These actually use 4 colors, what REALLY WEIRD is that the top set are aligned manually the bottom set are aligned using the align distribute docker.
I think that I have this worked out, but I must run to the grandchildren, will post back later.
Ok, the grandkids are coming to me, so I have some time, the behavior of the contour tool is different with a 2-color fountain fill than it is with 3 or more.
I've tested with a black fill, but my tests reveal that it will work with any color.
How I did this was to start with the number 3 and convert to curve, I filled the curve with a 4fountain fill built with 4 colors, I then assigned the object an outline 1/2 the width I wanted a one step contour, I created the contour width to match the outline width of the object and assigned the outline color to match the outline color of the object. The posted version shows a different color black for the object than used for the contour to show the concept.
I'll play with multi-step contours next.
Here is the same procedure as above but I used 7 steps for the contour, each the same color and width as the outline on the original object.
