I have been using CDGS 2017 for about one week or so.
I see that now we can choose and use font that are not installed on the system, I wonder what is the use for CFM?
Thanks David and Ariel. Anyway, when we talk about installing font, there are two situations - (i) actually installing it in Windows, and (ii) virtually installing it through CFM. So I did this following experiment. First, I added my font folder to the CFM library, with some of the fonts installed (green) while others not (yellow). In CorelDraw, I can actually use fonts that are not installed in Windows and CFM (the yellow ones) by checking "Not Installed" in the CorelDraw Font Status filter. Second, I removed my font folder from the CFM library, now CFM will only show fonts that I actually installed in Windows. As a result, in CorelDraw, I can no longer use fonts that are not installed in Windows. As a conclusion, in this case, the function of CFM is to allow user to add folders to the library, and hence allowing users to use fonts in these folders, without needing to install them in Windows OR CFM. Which means, once I have added folders into the CFM library initially, there is no need for me to even open CFM thereafter for at least my personal workflow. Anyway, I'm sure there must be some other things that can only be done in CFM and not within CorelDraw.
