Hi Everybody,
Here's the town on the Hudson River while it was still day time -- it was a gray day so I added color. It was all done in Photopaint X6. I wonder if Corel will fix P X8 so that it at least matches X6.
Any opinions on this version versus the night version.

Hi David
I've got the same (I assume) 70-300mm zoom. I find it sharpest at about f8. Are you hand-holding or using a tripod? If you're hand holding you need to be using a shutter speed of at least the same number as the focal length of the lens (even if you're using VR) if you're not using VR then the shutter speed needs to be faster. So if you're shooting at 300mm you need to have a shutter speed of 1/300sec or faster - ideally at least 1/600sec.
Here's a photo taken on my D7100 at 300mm 1/320sec f5.6 hand-held plus a detail crop at 1:1.
Yes Roy that's the lens I have. I hand hold and I use a tripod too. I'm shooting some difficult colors but experimenting with distance and lighting. I find it relaxing and as long as it doesn't become WORK I'm going for it. In fact it allows me to enjoy image editing again, doing the architectural stuff is all well and good but it's WORK.
If I get half as good as you, I'll be ten time better then I am.

Some of the reasons that I recommended the 35 mm f/1.8:
For some users (I'm raising my hand here), a prime lens can be beneficial sometimes to remove the temptation to "zoom in".
