Apply phtopaint plug-in effects to vector shapes from CorelDraw.

I was asked by a friend if it might be possible to apply effects from  plugins or other effects in photopaint to vector shapes from corel draw. The answer is yes it is possible and the end result is a clipped bitmap with a shape conforming to the original vector shape not a square white fill. Only works if using 32 bit versions works as far back as version 11.

Try this.

1. create vector art work in Corel Draw it can include transparency and gradients and lens effects.  FILE SHOULD BE RGB

2 open photopaint as new file set the resolution as you wish.

3. Cut or copy you artwork from Corel Draw

4. In Photopaint  Select the text tool, set the size to 72 point or something fairly large. Click on your page  Paste Control+v  your vector art in.

5.. Go to the selection tool click on the object you pasted in.  it is now a scalable vector in Photopaint.   Photopaint scales it as though it is text.

6. You can now  mask and apply transformations, plugin effects sprayer and brush effects you can include mask feathering etc and a clip mask.

7. Cut or copy your work to clipboard past into draw you will have a flattened bitmap with the original shape of your vector not a square .

this one is corel perspective  and eye candy bevel boss.

We use this every day.

re missing outlines.  what we do to avoid clipping at edge of text and outlines is start with a rectangle frame with outline no fill then set our text. group the frame and text convert to curves.

select and copy. go to photopaint open a page large enough to old the art. Select the text tool. click on the page then paste at the cursor, select that object by clicking with the pick tool.

What you should have is scalable art that redraws without pixelizing.. create a mask if needed apply whatever effects create a clip path if needed apply merge modes or whatever.

select the object when finished export as png or cpt  with transparency bring back into Draw you will have a transparent background and text with all the plugin effects. we use this because we can apply all the corel effects like envelope first.

When we bring back into draw we crop most of the rectangle away it was only included to provide a margin around the text to avoid edge problems.
