Why do areas of the grid disappear?

I need the grid for a layout I'm doing but sections of the grid disappear. The more I add objects the more of the grid goes missing.

Hello i_am_jim; When you overlay something on the grid make sure there is no color in it to cover up the grid. And go into setup and see how you have grids setup, And you know things changes with sizing.

The situation is exactly like in the picture. It's a B&W image. The grid is all there before I start to add objects but areas of it disappear as I add them.
