Hi Everyone. Before i start a big thank you to all on this site that contribute to peoples problems. I have learnt so much from ready what people have to say. Great work to the entire community, and hope i got be of assistance also.
I have a issue. Moved from coreldraw x3 on 32 bit system to coreldraw x6 on 64 bit system. Totally understand that drivers from xp to win 7 and 32 bit to 64 will be slightly different. That is fine no issue at all. I have a steady understanding of colour, and have set up my screens as well as draw x3 to print very well to offset printers and my internal digital machine. I have used the optimized for professional output selection in draw x3 colour management and i am really happy with the results i have had for years. In most of my work i use a colour swatch booklet supplied by my printing company that helps me colour match colours more accurately for customers. eg pantone to cmyk. It has also taught me allot regarding colour mixing of colour to achieve accurate colours.
Questions and Help.
1: What are the correct setting in x6 to match x3. Optimized for professional output?2: Can i export x3 colour management setting to x6?3: If the above is not accurate, what are the setting to achieve Optimized for professional output in x6?Your assistance and advice is greatly appreciate. I love to learn more and always have an open mind to learning from someone that understands better then me.
Luckily I achieved what I was aiming for; David to drop in and guide you. :-)
Your old CM settings worked for you, and if so, they were right. But I suggest you follow the advices you'll get and try to get all settings right, to make it easier and more predictable in the future.
Yes, talk to your printer and ask them about color profiles for a start.
Ken said:I print to postscript devices always. As rule of thumb most of my files i generate a .ps file then distill using acrobat.
This work flow will make things easy for you as you previous X3 CM settings only had a few real flaws, while soft proofing was selected there either was no custom monitor profile or you did not load one, X6 sees the OS display profile automatically so we may want to take a look into Windows. What version of Windows?.
The Kodak color engine is no longer availabe, the profiles used in X3 were Kodak and Corel no longer ships them however they are available at my web site www.graphictechnology.com. (sidebar) X3 saw the profile names in an odd manner so I have them there so X6 will see them as Windows explorer will see them makint them easier to work with. Another issue is that (if memory serves) X3 used automatic rendering which meant saturation for vectors and perceptual for images.

What part of the world are you working in.
Hi David, and thank you for your reply. x3 is on windows xp and my new x6 is on window7.
The soft proofing area is pointing me in the right area. I did not know that x6 references automatically to the os. (more professional?) Now you mention it, I do remember while back when i spent the time setting up my workflow, i did play around in the windows colour management settings. ( i have not gone there yet on windows 7 and x6, unprofessional on my behalf to of forgot about that, and very professional on David's behalf to have it known as second nature) on my x3 setup on xp i did load my monitor profile p113.icm in the OS/xp (but did not select it in x3 as my monitor profile and only used generic in x3). When you mentioned x6 uses the windows/os display profile, it rang bells, shifted my attention, i may / need to play there more, load my screen /monitor profile and make some adjustments.
Its good i do have samples of my printed works which helps me reference any changes i make to the colour management setting. (still allowing for colour variation due to print conditions) I am from Melbourne australia.
David in Windows 7 under colour management, under advanced. From your professional setup experience. What would you run in windows 7 for a professional graphics workflow
Windows colour system defaultsDevice profile: (would i use my monitor profile or what is your recommendation)Viewing conditions Profile:?
Would you use the windows display calibration option?
