I have Just downloaded X6 Spanish trial to upgrade from old x4 install. I'm running XP SP3, Intel Dual Core 1,6 GHz, 4 GB RAM, more than enough HD space and compatible video card. I've been trying install it for the last 20 hours or so, but to no avail. I keep getting the following screen at 35% progress of the installation:
I have tried ALL the recipes I could find mentioned here: Ran CCleaner, ran ChkDsk, ran memory check, uninstalled antivirus, ran MSCONFIG and restarted both in selective mode and in diagnostics mode. Created a new account with admin rights. Ran a full virus scan, reset IE8 to default settings and made it default browser. Uninstalled all my Adobe applications. Probably I am missing something. I did lots of stuff.
To make things worse I also uninstalled X4, and I really don't have a clue about where the installation disk might be. So now I got nothing! I need help, please!!!
Have you seen this particular error before? is there a solution?
Thanks
Invalid Access to Memory Location
Not good. Such errors are related to globals - directly to your OS. Does this error generates anything in Event Viewer? AFAIK it should, probably in report "System" on the left pane in Event Viewer.
Your AV and FW are ok, MSSE in theory shouldn't be problem either, BUT if you actually CAN do file operations there in Safe mode, then probably you are still blocked by something and this "something" still might be your AV software - even turned off.
I'm not sure (remember actually) if Windows XP allows doing any installation processess in Safe mode, but I would give it a try and install X6 while being in Safe mode.
If this doesn't help, my advice is to uninstall any third party AV software completely. I've found it helpful for some people. If this attempt will fail again, try download and install EN-US version.
You might want to consider doing a memory test
http://www.memtest.org/
Burn it to a cd and make sure your computer is set to boot to your optical drive and let memtest run a few passes (it will probably take a few hours).
I believe you can boot it from a flash drive as well, but I have never tried it.
You also might want to check the integrity of your hard drive or try installing to a different hard drive if you have one just to see if it will work (might sound silly, but everyone else has suggested all the normal procedures).
Also....it is entirely possible that your Windows installation is corrupted.
I had a described error.
Please look at NTFS_access_right to the folder "\ProgramData\Corel" (can be also C:\ProgramData\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6).
It is necessary to become the "Owner" of this folder(s) and to give full access for account "Everyone".
After the specified actions the error disappeared, installation passed successfully.
Still it is useful to check a correctness of the dotnetfx 4.0.
Thus, the antivirus (Kaspersky Internet Security) didn't attract an error.
Best regards!
