Hi all,
We are a small print company, located in Bursa, Turkey, and yesterday we upgraded to CorelDraw X6. Since yesterday we have been struggling with thumbnail previews under Windows 7 - the feature we loved and got well accustomed to. Earlier we have used X3 version with this preview feature, but with X6 it seems no longer to work. We have checked the related windows directories as well as the CorelDraw Shell Extension - all things (dlls and exes) look just fine in their places and installed but still we cannot get the thumbnail preview work.
Any help or workound would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
First thing to check is that control panel > programs and features shows "Corel Graphics -- Windows Shell Extension" with a version number of 16.4.0.1280 (right click on the headers if the versions are not being shown).
Does it show thumbnails for CDR files newly created with X6? Some old clipart files do not show headers in X6 and that is a known problem, different from being unable to display X6 thumbnails.
Hello bursayigit; make sure you have the file type you want to have opened with CorelDRAW selected in The CorelDRAW setup as per Screen Shot, You will also need to select the CDR files in Windows setup for your CDR files.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies.
The version number is the same (16.4.0.1280). With newly created cdr files it doesn't work either. File associations are also the way it should be - all related files are associated with CorelDraw.
One thing worth mentioning is that in Windows Registry the "ShellXP.dll" is registered. In the same directory of this dll-file (:/Program Files/Common Files/Corel/Shared/Shell Extensions/x64/ShellXP.dll) there is also a "ShellVista.dll". I guess the names correspond to the windows names and it seems in this case a Windows7 version (something like "ShellWindows7.ll" or Shell7.dll") is missing. Might the problem have something with this?
Have thumbnails for your X3 files (that you have not resaved in X6) also stopped working?
The preview function wasn't working with the x3 files either. But we've just fixed it by de- and reinstalling the Shell Extension. It worked just fine.
Again, thanks a lot for your time and effort!
Greetings.
