Hi all. I have a 13 of pages of paragraph text. The text fill is black (RGB 0,0,0) throughout. No pen outline. No graphics. However, the Document Palette shows four wells - none, RGB 0,0,0, CMYK100 and RGB 0,0,0 (again). I usually only have the 'none' well showing. I have no idea what the others are referring to. How do I find out?

Ariel, you say the Document Palette doesn't add colours at random, then say it happens with text. This is the point I'm making. Why is it remembering text colours I no longer use? What's the purpose of it? I simply want to see what's in the document - and nothing more.
Ronny, I accept what you say, but I'm still stuck with text colours I don't want in the Document Palette, which I can't remove, unless I'm misunderstanding you. Hence my solution to open a new colour palette, which, as you say, I can then add the document colours to.
Just for fun, I deleted all text from the document and all the pages down to Page 1 - and it still shows three black colour wells! What exactly is being 'remembered' here? And where is the information being stored? Any programmers out there?

Maybe it's a bug, but it's not only about the Color Palette, it'a about how the program handles the color on the text. For example, sometimes if you can the color of the first word changes the entire paragraph, or if you change the entire paragraph to red, the first space is still black (it happens also on other programs). Also, remember that color styles are still present on the document.

Can you attach a sample file?
I'm convinced the Document Colour Palette is broken. I tried changing the colour of the first word of a para - it worked fine. However, when I added it to the palette, it added the colour - plus yet another black!
I don't wish to waste your time sending a file. It does that on new documents, so it's something generic. I can live without the Document Palette.
Thanks for everybody's input !
