Hi Mr. Corel,
1. I requested Mystic Thumbs to include PhotoPaint CPT thumbnails in their list of thumbnails.
2. I received the following reply:

"Hi Philip
We have looked into CPT before. Unfortunately it is a proprietary format and we were unable to find sufficient information about it to support. If you can hunt down a full format specification then we would consider implementing it.

Hi Phil,
For reasons unknown on my one laptop, an ASUS brand win 7 8gig i7. Since x6 I lost my thumbs, all of them. Nothing in Windows explorer and nothing in connect, gone. I have pretty much tried everything . Since I installed mystic thumbs they are all back.

For the $25.00us price for mystic thumbs it was no longer worth my time chasing the issue down. I did spend hours plus on this, worked with Corel to no avail as well as many highly skilled power users I know, nothing. I still think it's something in my machine locally? From what I learned chasing this down I do not think its a Corel thing.

Hi Bob,
I feel the same way as you do. It's not worth the time and aggravation to try to chase down missing thumbnails.

My problem is that Mystic Thumbs can't make CPT thumbnails. Corel has point blank refused to give Mystic Thumbs the information to create thumbnails. Yet Mystic Thumbs creates thumbnails for Corel CDR files and Corel PSPimage files and over a hundred other files.
Why in the world is Corel refusing to release information on CPT files. Who's going to steal the format.

Hi Phil,
That is an old bad idea keeping cpt exclusive and another one of many reasons why I use Photoshop and Lightroom for raw with Draw. I hardly even open PP. It lacks lots of very cool effects and tools needed for design work, for my workflow it's half baked. On the same token I hardly open Illustrator, it's in the same category as PP here, I use that as a filter to get stuff into Draw. PP could be a powerhouse if someone would drop some dollars and attention into that budget.

All the programs I use accept psds and some even layered psds and that is important here. Yes you can make a psd in pp but why when you can have the real psd and all those great tools/effects. Hopefully one day PP will catch up to PS, been waiting years for that.

With mystic thumbs I can see everything I use. Best 25 bucks spent in a long time.

Hi Bob,
I use Photoshop, PaintShopPro (plus the Smart Curves plug-in), and PhotoPaint . I use all three as needed.
1. I don't use Photoshop on a regular basis because it lacks an interface -- not even a Standard tool bar. No home made tool bars. My old eyes can't read the tiny top level menu. It may not make financial sense but I resent not being able to buy it.
2. PaintShopPro is a surprisingly good application for what I do. However, PaintShopPro lacks a Lab color mode. The Smart Curves plug-in is good but not quite the equal of PhotoPaint's Curves dialog. It has the equivalent of Content Aware Fill. With a little more catch-up it's going to be better than PhotoPaint.
3. I like PhotoPaint for being able to make my own tool bars and fill them with tools, dialogs, dockers, etc. Why memorize 48 keyboard short cuts. The PhotoPaint Curves dialog has advantages over the one in Photoshop. The histogram is interactive. It has a "linear" option. It's somewhat larger. I'm addicted to the Lab Curves.
--- At the moment, I am very irritated with Corel. No CPT thumbnails. Constant crashes in X7. The worst forum in the world. Empty promises to upgrade the forum after the back-end has been repaired. etc. etc. etc.
If Photoshop comes up with a decent interface -- it's good bye Corel.

Hi Phil,
I got those old eyes as well but have no issue working with PS. I use the last creative suite sold for the desktop. I will never use the on line services. I actually have ps v.1 on 10 floppy discs. FYI I also have v3 on a win 95 box and guess what it is snappy and super fast and still works well. It lacks "layer styles" but it has that on a disc as an add on back then. I also have Draw v6 and v9 on the win95 box and both are faster than the current versions and the win95 box only has 256mgs ram, go figure.

I like PP as an interface goes and it has super possibilities but it does not come near what I can do in PS fast. Most of my work is for the web and custom programing so visual effects are paramount as is time spent on projects. PP is OK and has some unique features/effects that PS does not but for me overall PS currently is so much better here. You can script PS functions.

I am very happy with Draw, it rocks big time here. Yes as most software that is complex such as Draw has it's issues, it always will, it the nature of software. You can grow old, get old eyes but if you loose your childish head set and stop playing and having fun with stuff well the real you just died (don't let that happen). Grow old but never let your head grow old and it just gets better every year. It hurts a bit more but I still kickbox in the gym weekly (40 years doing that now)

I see the cpt thumbs but I have mystic thumbs so I can't help on this one.
