auto filling grid boxes... would be such a time saver

We do a lot of laser engraving for the trophy industry... if all the engraving plates are the same, I like to use a grid box... as it is much faster when it is cutting the plates out. so I would first make a 1 x 1 grid the size of the engraving plate required say 75mm x 20mm, type what is needed on that plate, Then change the grid to say 10 down & 5 across if 50 plates are required. What I have to do now is copy and paste from the first grid into the other 49 plates... What would be fantastic is if once I typed the first plate, then expanded the grid Corel automatically copied it to the whole 50 plates.... This would save so much time....

You should look at the print preview and imposition tools. You can set up a 1 x 1 page enter your text the go to print preview and set up an imposition table 5 columns 10 rows print it you are done. Also look at the print styles you can save combination of styles for regular layouts. You can also combine this with print merge to create lists and layout with variable data.

We do 1000's of pieces this way every month.

Hi Ross.. Yes I use print merge for all our engraving that has variable information and it works fantastic.. why I like to use the table function is the way it vector cuts the plates out.... it cuts in continuous straight lines from bottom to top then left to right.... instead of cutting around each individual plate... cutting the cut out time in half... i have been trying all the suggestions... but they still cut out the plates as individual plates... unless i am missing something in the imposition.... thanks for the feed back...

I suggest you create the grid the same way I suggested to make duplicates.
Create a vertical line, duplicate it, create a horizontal line and duplicate.
Very easy to create a suitable grid this way, and it will cut the lines not the squares.
You can also easily control the cut direction (left to right then right to left and so on) and order, depending on how you create the lines.

Here's a simple file with a 75 x 20 mm grid, 50 plates.
I also added Clones instead of Duplicates, like Ross suggested.

only new here and looks like a great place to get ideas how to do things.... there are often more than one way to do something in corel... and I will be trying them all to see which suits best..... the "table copy" idea is just an idea that I think would make this job much faster.... its something that we are always doing with lots of different plate sizes. Who know one day it might become a feature.... Thanks again Reg
