I can remember playing with GEM (on a Xerox PC - I don't remember which one), but I don't think I ever got anything to run on it.

My first computer was a Sinclair ZX-81. 1981.
1k of ram available to be filled with basic code. I wrote some pretty terrible games on it, similar to the one pictured here. And tape storage never worked.

Yep that was the one Mike, remember embedding all your codes in the text file before you opened it in Ventura and then taking your files to the Linotronic and copying them to LPT1 from your floppy disk to get your bromides for paste up?

So much fun just a small niche of people doing this all over the world. We used to use Forox and Oxberry cameras, remember lightbox burn from retouching lith until the early hours of the morning? The staging of the events was the most hectic I remember having to change codes 30seconds before the speaker live... I was grey at 30. LOL
