Corel X7 crashes on new document or open document...

've been using corel X7 since it came out with no issues. In the last few days, when I try to start a new document, it (coreldraw) crashes. If I try to open a document, it crashes. the other corel programs work perfectly.. photopaint, capture... I've tried the F8 trick, I've uninstalled / reinstalled... completely uninstalled and installed X6... same issue in X6… I’ve reinstalled .net 4.5…

I've been using Corel for 21 years and this one has me stumped!

Becuase you'll no doubt ask, my setup is:

 Dell Precision T5600
intel Xeon e5-2630
64gb ram
windows 7 64bit

Thanks!

Hoping that I don't have to re-install windows!

  • Hi,
Sorry. I can't help. I just have a few suggestions for the future.
    1. In the future, make "Restore" points when things are going well. (Look
    them up in Windows HELP.)
    2. Some processes such as Windows Update automatically make Restore points
before they execute. You may be able to find a Restore point which will take
you back to the good old days.
    3. PhotoPaint and PhotoShop only allow three installations. Before you
wipe them off the face of the earth, they have to be correctly uninstalled.
Otherwise, you will reduce the number of times that you can reinstall.
PhotoPaint must be uninstalled when you are on the Corel internet site.
PhotoShop has some hocus pocus for uninstalling which is shown under HELP.
    4. Always keep an anti-virus and an anti-malware application going in the
background. I'm not recommending any. However, I happen to be using Norton
    360 and Malwarebytes.

    BEST OF ALL !

    1. Make an IMAGE of your C drive on an external hard drive when all looks
well. (See HELP in Windows.) Never - ever - make one when there is
trouble. Make and save a few IMAGES every month or so just in case you've
made an IMAGE containing a virus. Again, I don't recommend any programs but
I happen to use MACRIUM. The IMAGE utility in Windows hasn't worked for
most people for the last few versions. Corel and Adobe never even know that
they have been wiped out and reinstalled but play it safe anyhow and
    correctly uninstall them.
    2. Be sure to make a RESCUE disk with each IMAGE. In that way you can
reboot and run the RESTORE operation from the RESCUE disk without ever
    touching an infected C drive.
    ----- GOOD LUCK -----
