What I'd like to see in corel X8

Hi Corel

I've given up on any hope of implementing x7

Here is my list for x8.  the following new features only.

Font management that works or just supply a third party plugin

Multipage search and replace tool .

Bulletted lists l

Better extrusion tool  (look at Xara or photoline)

Print merge that will publish to pdf and merge photos ( into a power clip would be best)

Menu choice of bitmap editor from inside coreldraw

A decent perspective tool for bitmaps

3d rotate

That's I,t no other new features just scan this forum for the last 4 years for leading fix requests and do them.

Making money with x6 and x4 in one division of business 10 systems (signs Nametags engraving) the other 20 systems (Graphics, advertising publication ) is all Adobe

profit margins from the graphics ad side is double the engraving nametag stuff but both are good.

  • Ross I have no idea why you have issues with X7.6, I just did 8 window graphics on our Mimaki, 85" high x 96 wide on average typical one has 4 or 5 power clipped images with drop shadows. File sizes reach 800MB to over 1GB. No crashes, no issues, certainly some RIP time and transfer time but on vinyl, on the window and in the bank.

Last week I did 15,000 pocket folders, over twenty images, drop shadows, effects, I published to PDF and since I knew the work flow didn't even flatten the file, delivered and accepted, client loved them.

On the 15th I delivered a large donor wall that was engraved, I had to rescue this job from an Adobe product it was about 80" square done in sign foam, acrylic and polycarbonate, plenty of issues but once the Adobe crap was eliminated no problem 100% satisfaction.

Rasterlink 6.6 hates Adobe transparency, you just have to RIP all Adobe PDF files with transparency into a TIF of expect 40% failures, CorelDraw transparency has been tested with 3 layers of transparency and seems ok, I'm sure I'll break that soon.

As far as additions sure, Ghostscript isn't cutting it so our EPS import and export needs to serve Corel users so they can buy and sell images on the internet.  Also fountain fills with the center moved need to publish to PDF so the files can be used for more than just output.
