Hi Everybody,1. What color space is used for the working space (aka Central Space, Intermediate Space, etc.) in CDGS.
The dialog lists a "default" space which I assumed was to be used for untagged documents. So where is the color space of the working space set.
If default refers to the working space, then what space is assigned to untagged documents.
That was the beauty of the old diagram. The working space) was centered in the middle of the diagram and you chose a color space for it.
2. What profile is being assigned to the document and to the working space when switching spaces from the menu. The profiles must obviously change when switching from RGB to Lab or to CMYK.

Hi David and Ariel,Thanks for the reply. However:Unless Photoshop X7 is different than Photoshop X6, you did not answer the question. Here's the color management dialog. It clearly says that the defaults apply only to the document. There does not seem to be an entry for the working space. That's a serious omission for the people (not me) who believe that Adobe 1998 is the best working space to use.Phil

Hi, Phil. I already answer this, maybe I was not enough clear. There's not "only one default RGB", the sRGb is the default on your configuration. If you choose, such as "NorthAmerica General Purpose". but if you choose another better option (such as NorthAmerica PrePress! or "europe Prepress", the defaults changes, and the Default RGB is AdobeRGB.
Phil, the application dialog as stated does control the default profile for new and untagged documents, unless you choose to do something else. It however does not limit the profile of documents you open, unlike X4 and older versions in X5 and newer versions you can open documents of any color space without changing the application defaults. You are not required to select these lower end settings.
The statement you make about Adobe RGB makes no sense, sRGB is the default setting only for the GENERAL PURPOSE setting. It is the MOST LIMITED of all the combined set of profiles, utilizing a RGB space useful with older un color managed browsers, and as a common RGB space for low end displays. This is the general purpose setting for Adobe and Corel as it supports a wide range of un color managed systems, specifically lower end systems.
For example,. North American Press uses Adobe RGB, European Press uses ECI EGB, these are wider gamut RGB color spaces better for quality conversions of spot colors and RGB to CMYK.
