I've had this X7 laying around here for a good while now.
Finally upgraded from X5 (32 bit on Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, yes it worked JUST FINE except CorelCapture). Very fast on typical 1080p displays.
Upgraded from (2) 23" 1080p Dell displays to (2) 27" Dell P2715Q (60Hz) (3840x2160) displays with a new Geforce GTX970 4GB SSC GPU. Intel i7-3820 3.60 GHz. 64GB RAM
It's not terribly bad, the lag I have using CorelDraw X7 now after the upgrade, but it is noticeable and feels like it slows me down now. : /
Anyone else experiencing this lag in CorelDraw X7? I am guessing it's the extra overhead required to push / refresh these 4K displays...so much more rasterizing of the pixels/displays probably. The GTX 970 is a very powerful video card though. Went from GTX 660 3Gb to this...and it just may be the cost of going from 1080p to 4K. Obviously works fine with Adobe CS6 and Autodesk software.
PS... after upgrading to 4K and before upgrading to X7, X5 would BOMB when zooming in far or overloading it by panning or zooming... just FYI only...I know X5 isn't for Windows 8. But it has worked for me ever since Windows has been out... and much faster than the 4K setup and X7. but it does NOT work with a 4K and/or GTX 970 setup. SO yes, I upgraded to X7 and so far, knock on wood, X7 hasn't bombed/crashed with excessive zooming, panning, etc etc.
Do you have the latest drivers for the video card? It seems that the card might be a bit underpowered if you're having issues with refresh.
Well.... returned the GTX970 4GB.
Got a Quadro K2200 4GB (when you see this thing compared to the GTX line, really makes you feel taken.... not much to it... doens;t even require external power... the GTX probably just does for all those BIG FANS...that's probably all the extra pronged power is for? who knows).
Here are some Passmark.com 2D TESTS... didn;t really make much if any difference at all with X7 or for anything else for that matter... it did seem to for AutoCAD though...but I don't really use that much. These Quadros really are OVER RATED. I am sure they really shine when used with SolidWorks, Inventor, Maya etc. But even in 3ds max it didn't really overwhelm me. I haven;t tried with Adobe CC yet... but from what I hear the GTX line is just fine there also. Again...my older GTX 660 3GB really seems just fine for EVERYTHING...it actually did better than the GTX 970 and about the same as the Quadro K2200. It actually did better in the Graphics 2D - Fonts and Text category!!!!!
Oh well.
EVen though my cpu isn't terribly old, or junk or anything... I may need to just get the latest and greatest CPU so X7 will have abosulutely NO LAG when zooming on a DUAL 4K system. It seems the CPU is doing all the work anyways and not the GPU. I'll attach some Nvidia GPU Utilization graphs also.
NOTE: After overclocking my CPU from 3.6 to 4.7 GHz or so, the GTX 970 actually kicked in and had higher results that were a little bit more than both the GTX 660 and the Quadro K2200. I may actually send this Quadro back, and just get a GTX 980 and be done here. I am NOT impressed with the Quadro for the money they offset compared to a High End GTX. Seems the GTX are just fine no matter how much people harp that you "need Quadro" for anything serious. That may be true for SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, special sciench and technology fields... but it ain't doing SQUAT when X7 is used. Even if Corel follows Adobe Illustrator CC with the GPU speed enhancement for X7 or should say anything in the future probably... I am sure they may support the GTX line, not to mention AMD for those that prefer them.
Again, quite disappointed in the Quadro...really expected fireworks and explosions... nope...just the same pretty much for almost a $100 more for nothing. (well..except it doesn;t require extra power like a gaming GTX does...but it also lost a LOT of CUDA cores, and dropped in bits, memory speed etc.).
Welll.... here's the Quadro K2200 results. bleh. : /
Here is a Nvidia GPU Utilization graph of when it was running the tests. (the flat-lining is with NOTHING happening of course).
Here it is with X7 full screen 4K, RANDOM PANNING (1st 2/3), and ZOOMING IN AND OUT (last 1/3). Obviously the CPU is doing the work here...not the GPU at 30%.
Just some extra tests here in case interested.
Ran an entire system test with OC CPU i7-3820 4.8± GHz. (graph shows STOCK 3.60 GHz for the name, it's Overclocked though)
You'll notice the Quadro K2200 actually sucks in the 3D TESTS.
I will be sending this back and just sticking with GTX as you relaly get best of both worlds of 2D and 3D.
The Quadro really may be great for some lines of work...but I don't feel it's any better when used with CorelDraw X7, Adobe Creation Suite CS6, 3ds max etc. It may excel for AutoCAD, Maya, Solidworks etc. But overall, whn most feel Quadro's are a sham...they actually really are OVERALL. It just depends if your using software that utilizes the Quadro and the specialized software it requires... X7 isn't one of them.
here's the 3D tests... they SUCK. Quadro K2200... uh yeah... : / I know Nvidia makes a LOT of money selling the GTX's...but really make a LOT on the overpriced Quadros even though they don;t sell as many...but you have to think how many Quadros they sell for professionals and institutions like hospital systems etc...not just to CAD professionals and the MOVIE makers.
