Profile problem when saving

Hi Everybody,
I thought that this should be brought up front in its own thread.
There's a major problem (bug ?) with profiles when using SAVE or SAVE AS.

I posted the problem somewhere in outer space.
David Milisock identified the problem and posted a work around.

Suppose that you Convert the profile in the document to ProPhoto.  Then you SAVE or SAVE AS.

Poof.  The profile is gone the next time that you open the file.

As David pointed out, the setting for embed profile in the SAVE or SAVE AS dialog overrides Document Settings.  The work around is simple enough once you know what is happening.

Keep the embed profile option checked when saving.

  • Let the argument BEGIN!

    Is this a bug?

Is this the way people want it?

Is this an action that should have a warning that can be disabled by the user?

If memory serves, during the testing of X5 the first default was to embed profiles, that was met with an explosion from the testers. The second default was a warning that was met with simple flame throwers. The third and final default is as seen since X5 thru X7.

I have an opinion that with the standard defaults with missing and mismatched profile warnings unchecked CorelDRAW and Photo-PAINT act like Adobe products if you choose to not color manage a file upon opening.

In reality neither Adobe nor Corel can NOT COLOR MANAGE, color management is required for a computer to work at all, both applications simply have the ability to embed a profile upon saving.

BTW I was for the warning that could be disabled.
